Gabe Musella - Director of Bands
Director of Bands Gabe Musella, a native of Corpus Christi, Texas, has taught for 30 years in Texas. He is currently in his 18th year at Spring High School after teaching in the Lubbock-Cooper, Canyon, and Lubbock school districts. A graduate of Texas Tech University, he holds a B.M. in Composition and M.M. in Conducting. For over 25 consecutive years his bands have earned UIL Sweepstakes awards in eight separate varsity and non-varsity classes. They have performed at The Midwest Clinic in Chicago and the BOA National Concert Band Festival, and been finalists in TMEA Honor Band. On several occasions they have been named National Winners in the Choice Music Events Mark of Excellence competition. The Spring Band has had five different ensembles perform at Midwest since 2008 and they were the subject of an article featured in the November 2010 issue of The Instrumentalist. He is the 2017 recipient of The Spec’s Charitable Foundation Award for Excellence in Music Education awarded by The Houston Symphony Orchestra and the Meritorious Achievement Award from the Texas Bandmasters Association. Mr. Musella has served as a judge for the UIL Texas State Marching Contest and TMEA State Honor Band finals. He has presented sessions at the Texas Bandmasters Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Choral Directors Association, The Midwest Clinic, and the South Central Regional Music Conference in Monroe, Louisiana. He currently serves as President of TMEA Region XXXIII.
