Each group is given a 30 minute warm-up time and a 10 minute travel time to the auditorium. For instance, if a performance time is at 9:30 am, warm-up will start at 8:50 and end at 9:20. The performance time allows for about 20 minutes for concert pieces.
At Contest Check-In, directors present the Contest Office representative with scores for each judge (usually 2 judges), a script for announcing the group and a copy of the stage set-up (this is usually emailed to us in advance). After playing, risers will be available, in the bandhall, for groups that would like to take their own pictures. The director then comes back to the Contest Office for Check-Out, receiving the scores, a CD of the performance, written judges' comments (a link will be provided to audio judges' comments), any Outstanding Solo or Section Certificates as designated by the judges for the group, a Concert trophy for a I or II rating and any Splashtown tickets purchased. Each group purchasing tickets also receives 2 complimentary Splashtown tickets.
The Splashtown tickets are good anytime during the 2020 season. However, Splashtown is open the Friday and Saturday of our Contest but NOT the Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of our Contest. On the Friday and Saturday, Splashtown offers a Group Meal opportunity for your entire group to alleviate lines at concession stands. That Meal is available only through Splashtown. Our Contest does not make the arrangements but we can give you the contact person for that if you wish.
At the close of the Contest, the judges select a Best in Class and 1st Runner Up group in each class to receive an additional trophy. We notify directors by phone and email and trophies can be picked up at the Spring bandhall or delivered the following week.
The prices are as follows:
Student w/ Contest and Splashtown ticket - $27
Non-Performing Students/Chaperone Splashtown tickets - $25
Students Performing Contest Only - $15
A $150 deposit is required per group. I will send an invoice as soon as a group is scheduled. Student numbers and the final balance are due no later than May 1, 2020.
Sincerely,
Debbie Rawlins
